The Stats

I am mostly writing this for my Mom.  We have left the Canadian Gulf Islands and are heading north across the Straight of Georgia tomorrow morning and will most likely be out of range of a wifi signal for a little stretch.  Sorry Mom, we will be out of touch but don't worry.  We'll check in as soon as we are able.

And since I have always been fascinated with numbers and stupid stats, here is a recap of our trip so far in numbers.  (I really don't have anything interesting to report, but since I have a wifi signal, I feel like I should write something.  Sorry for the lack of inspiration, motivation, or whatever).

 The numbers:

16 islands explored to date (favorite spot has been Pirates Cove on De Courcey Island)

62 total hours of travel time (34 hours motoring and 28 hours of sailing)

322 miles traveled

27 gallons of diesel burned

5.2 knots average speed sailing and motoring combined...(that is 6.24 miles per hour which = slow)

3 family size boxes of Cheez-its eaten in the first 2 weeks (no good substitute in Canada...I've tried them all)

197 miles walked/hiked

4 nights stayed at a marina

21 nights at anchor

4 movies watched

1 nap (I was hoping for more)

3 days is the longest we have stayed in one spot (Nanaimo dealing with the aftermath of the “storm”)

2 of the best cups of coffee in my life have been in Canada (1 in Ganges and 1 in Nanaimo)

0 phone calls since we crossed the border...its great

1 taxi ride

6 bus rides

1 hour spent fishing

0 fish caught

79 talks about how great it is not to work

2 farmer's markets visited (both kind of disappointing)

1 gallon of milk is $8.99 in the Gulf Islands

1 whole chicken is $27.99 in the Gulf Islands (not a pet but a chicken to cook)

3 pounds of coffee consumed

1 stern line broken

622 Eh's? spoken

3 nights anchored with a stern tie

122 pictures of our boat anchored in a bay (we won't bore you with them all...just some of them)

418 selfies taken since there isn't anyone around to take our picture for us.

2 visitors (Brad and Loraine)

24 days of sun (the weather has been phenomenal)

1 day of rain

7 am is the average time we wake up....depressing.  I was hoping to sleep in.  Too excited I guess.

118 pictures of beautiful beaches

19 rescued starfish

At Pirates Cove...Aaaarrrrrrggggh!!!

Amazing rock formations everywhere up here
